Abstract

In this paper, we present a review of the known archaeological context of Venta El Parrao (Alcala de Guadaira, Seville), based on a critical analysis of the artefacts located on the surface by means of archaeological survey and chance findings. In previous works, this site was interpreted as a villa with cemetery, which in the Late Roman period was transformed into a rural village (vicus). The study of the material culture and the insertion of the site in its most immediate territory allow us to discuss and nail down the interpretation of this site from a chronological and functional point of view.
