Abstract

The results of the archaeological excavation carried out in the historic centre of Setúbal, 8-12 Vasco Soveral Str., during the second semester of 2018, are presented in this paper and integrates the research project Pre-existences of Setúbal, developed by the Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography of the District of Setúbal (MAEDS).

The complete cultural stratigraphic sequence of this site covered a long diachrony from the Orientalizing Iron Age to the Contemporary Age through the Muslim and Christian Middle Ages and the Early Modern Age too. The occupation of the Roman period stands out for the relevance of its material culture.
