Archaeological data processing often lacks a solid structure founded on recognizable standards. This compromises the re-use of data beyond its original research projects. We share the problems that arose in an academic study supported on heterogeneous information and data sources, discussing the adopted solutions for the data model (based on the CIDOC-CRM standard) and the use of international controlled vocabularies that were translated and adapted. This discussion is made with the awareness of the need for a debate regarding the construction of structured repositories of archaeological information that can be interoperable and reused by the scientific community.
